Starting From Scratch Again, Nita Sofiani Returns to the Entertainment World After Years of Hiatus

After being on hiatus for nearly nine years, Nita decided to restart her career journey that had been put on hold. In an interview with KapanLagi.com, she shared interesting stories behind her comeback decision, her long journey abroad, and the challenges she currently faces.

The actress, born in Bandung, revealed that she started her hiatus in 2015. This decision was made after she got married and had to follow her husband to live in India. During her time in India, she found it difficult to remain active in the Indonesian entertainment world.

"Well, after that I disappeared, right? Taken away to that faraway land, to India. It was indeed not possible to be active in Indonesia like that," Nita said when contacted by KapanLagi.com, Saturday (17/1/2025).

1. Always Love the Entertainment World

However, his love for the entertainment world has never faded. When he finally returned to Indonesia to settle down, he felt that this was the right time to continue what he had left behind.

"I feel like, yeah, I should just go back to what I have loved since a long time ago," he said.

Nita started her comeback by taking on the role of Aunt Merry in the web series Layangan Putus. That role became the first step for Nita to be recognized by the public again. However, she realized that her appearance at that time had changed a bit. Nevertheless, that experience opened the door for Nita to her upcoming projects.

"I did gain a bit of weight back then. So people didn't really notice. When I said, 'Oh, that was me as Aunt Merry', 'Oh yeah, that's right', like that," she revealed.

3. Not Easy to Make a Comeback

Nita admits that making a comeback to the entertainment world is not easy, especially after being away for quite a while. She also realizes that the industry has changed a lot, with the presence of many new, younger, and more talented artists. However, Nita remains optimistic and chooses to approach everything flexibly.

"If TV is really slow, especially after being away for a long time. I also know there are many new artists out there. Newcomers who are better. But I feel like, well, let’s just give it a try," she explained.

4. Acting in Films and Being a Host

Recently, Nita was involved in a feature film project directed by Benni Setiawan. She also collaborated with Garin Nugroho and Bambang on several other projects.

"Mr. Benni Setiawan was also the director for Layangan Putus," she said.

In addition, she is actively hosting the program Makarece and also appears in several FTVs like Kisah Nyata on Indosiar. Although she hasn't returned to a packed strip schedule, Nita enjoys the process.

"I just take it as it comes. I don’t want to aim too high," she said.

5. Not Pursuing Popularity

Now, Nita is more realistic in setting targets. She admits that she no longer chases popularity like she did in the early stages of her career. Nevertheless, she still hopes to achieve meaningful projects. According to Nita, a more relaxed approach actually brings better results.

"Honestly, in the past, yes. Oh, the youthful passion like, oh I really have to. But now I am more flexible. In fact, I feel that the more eager I am, the further away it gets. But if we are more let go, more relaxed, it actually comes closer on its own," she said.

6. Active on YouTube During a Hiatus

During her hiatus from the entertainment world, Nita maintained her existence through social media. She is active on YouTube and other platforms to continue interacting with her fans. However, she acknowledges that building a career on social media is different from television.

"But it’s different, right? YouTube, social media is not the same as TV. It’s really like two completely different things," she said.

7. Always Optimistic

Nita Sofiani's journey to return to the entertainment world has not been easy, but her spirit and love for this world keep her optimistic. With a more relaxed and realistic approach, she hopes to achieve success in the entertainment industry again.

"I just know myself. Like, I just go with it," Nita concluded.
