Tempted by Discounts, Tessa Kaunang's 23 Million Rupiah Disappears Because of Fake Brompton Seller

Kapanlagi.com - Last week (26/7/2020), artist Tessa Kaunang went shopping at a bicycle store available on one of the leading e-commerce platforms. Unexpectedly, she became a victim of fraud after transferring an amount of 23 million rupiah.

Tessa reported the fraud to the authorities. After reporting, she recounted the chronology of how she was deceived. After making the initial transaction on the application, she received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the store.

"I made the transaction and followed the procedures accordingly. One hour later, someone called me from the online store. They said, 'Because you received a 60% discount, you need to activate the discount voucher.' They gave me a link, I entered, and then I was asked to enter the OTP. I am not very familiar with online shopping, this was my first time shopping at this place. After that, the person called again and said, 'Don't open the website yet, the discount code is still being activated.' I followed their instructions. After that, there was no news. Suddenly, I received a report saying that the goods had been delivered and the transaction was completed," said Tessa when interviewed at the South Jakarta Metro Police Station on Tuesday (28/7/2020).

Tessa Kaunang bought a popular brand Brompton bicycle. She was interested in buying it from the store because the discount offered was not small, which was 60 percent.

"Because it's bicycle season, so I bought a bicycle. The original price was around 57 million, but with a 60 percent discount, the price became 23 million. Well, being a woman, we are tempted, right? Moreover, the color is my favorite, purple," continued the woman who gained fame through several soap operas.

2. A Significant Amount

Considering her status as a public figure, many may think that Tessa Kaunang is being excessive. However, for this mother of two, that amount of money is very meaningful as it was earned through hard work and struggle.

"Maybe some people think that 23 million is not much. But for me, it's a large sum. I worked hard, struggled, and suddenly faced something that I consider a fraud," Tessa concluded.
