The Ashes of Sarwendah's Father Will Be Scattered at Sea, Choosing a Ship Full of Sweet Memories of His Mother

"But we have already booked a ship for the ash scattering event. It’s just that if it’s on the ship, it might be more intimate. Because the ship can only hold 70 people, so it has been said that not everyone can join, just family since it’s a big family. So there will be just a few friends," said Sarwendah when met at the Grand Heaven funeral home on Wednesday (23/7/2025).

When asked about the exact location of the scattering, Sarwendah admitted that she did not know the specific coordinates. She only emphasized that the ceremony would take place in the open sea. For the technical aspects on the ground, she has been assisted by her friend, Ahmad Jordi.

"Yes, because it can be scattered there, but where exactly, I don’t know. It’s definitely at sea. Fortunately, the team helping with Jordi is taking care of the ship," she said.

Behind the selection of the ship for this ceremonial release, there is a sweet and touching reason. It turns out that the ship holds special memories for the mother. Sarwendah deliberately chose that ship for sentimental reasons.

"But why choose that ship? Because last year, Mom had her birthday on that ship. But Dad has never had his birthday on that ship," she explained.

She made that decision so that her father could also "feel" the same experience as his wife on that ship. This is Sarwendah's way of creating a new memory, even in a time of mourning. She wants her father to share in that special moment there.

"So according to me, this time I want Papi to feel it too. Mami has been on that ship, and Papi has also experienced celebrating on that ship," she said.
