Once again showcasing her acting prowess, Gisella Anastasia or Gisel, is cast to play the character Erika in the latest original Netflix film, A NORMAL WOMAN. Her role this time is quite challenging, as it lies in the gray area between protagonist and antagonist.

Gisel admits that her role as Erika can be interpreted in various ways by the audience. However, she herself does not deny that there is a sense of annoyance towards the character she plays.

"Behind that sweet appearance, there is indeed another ambition, I think," said Gisel when met at the Press Conference for A NORMAL WOMAN at Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (23/7/2025).

Even so, this mother of one tries not to judge her character. For her, every action of a person, including Erika, must be based on a complex reason.

"But one thing I learned from this story is that everyone always has a reason for their actions," said the 34-year-old woman.

Realizing her role could potentially provoke negative reactions, Gisel does not deny her worries about 'attacks' from netizens. However, in a relaxed tone and with a bit of joking, she admits she is used to facing such things.

"Well, it's okay, but it feels like I've been getting pulled by the hair continuously. So, what's the difference, haha, just kidding. This is a role, art, so I just play it happily," she said while laughing.

Furthermore, Gisel explained that she can understand Erika's way of thinking through her own life experiences. Although she does not justify her character's actions, she learned to understand the background that drives someone to act.

"As a human who has also learned from hard ways in her own life, so I can understand her way of thinking even though it is not justified. So I won't judge, but it is not justified," she emphasized.

In the end, Gisel leaves the judgment entirely to the audience when the film A NORMAL WOMAN premieres globally on Netflix starting July 24, 2025.
