This is Ahmad Dhani's Response When Insulted by Agnez Mo Regarding Royalties for Song Creators

Kapanlagi.com - The music industry in the country is not doing well. Musician Ari Bias is suing Agnez Mo regarding concert royalties for the song Bilang Saja. The court has ordered Agnez to pay Rp 1.5 billion to Ari.

On Tuesday (18/2/2025), Agnez spoke up about the legal issues she is facing, on Deddy Corbuzier's podcast. The singer of the song Party In Bali explained in detail about royalties for song creators, even reading articles from the copyright law.

Like Ari Bias, Ahmad Dhani is a member of the Indonesian Composer Association (AKSI). He is openly against Agnez Mo regarding royalties for song creators.

1. Response to Agnez Mo's Satire

Recently, Ahmad Dhani responded to Agnez Mo's satire. Starting from addressing several of Agnez's statements on Deddy Corbuzier's podcast through his personal Instagram to speaking in public.

"Why can't you differentiate between MECHANICAL RIGHTS and PERFORMING RIGHTS? It's a shame you dare to speak up. Once again, the COPYRIGHT LAW was made in 2014, dear," wrote Ahmad Dhani in his personal Instagram post on Wednesday (19/2/2025).

2. Songwriters Do Not Receive Their Fair Share

In a recent interview, Ahmad Dhani and Piyu responded to Agnez Mo's satire that mentioned greed regarding royalties.

"We want to know where our greed comes from. Essentially, every human is created according to their own portion. The portion of the creator, the portion of the singer, the portion of the event organizer, and they each receive their respective portions. All this time, we songwriters have not received our portion, we have not received our fair share," explained Piyu as seen in a post from the X account @agistalita.

"Ask Agnez again, from 2014 since this law has been in effect until this year, how many billions have been generated from our songs. Then, ask the creators how much they receive, zero," added Ahmad Dhani.

3. Question the Location of the Greed Called Agnez

Piyu emphasized that songwriters do not receive their rightful share, and it does not even provide economic benefits for the songwriters.

"So the location of the greed is what we will ask later," he said.

"The location of the greed is at zero earlier," replied Ahmad Dhani casually.
