Discussing Copyright at Kemenkum, Agnez Mo Shares Experience About LMK in America

Kapanlagi.com - Agnez Mo returned to Indonesia amid discussions about her case with Ari Bias. In addition to various agendas, the singer of the song Matahariku also took the time to discuss with the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) regarding the Copyright Law.

During the meeting, this internationally acclaimed singer not only wanted to understand the regulations in Indonesia but also share her experiences while in the United States. She revealed that she has been a 'part' of the Collective Management Institution (LMK) in America, namely Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), for 12 years.

"So actually, as I said, here we are just discussing, I also share my experience as a songwriter and also as a singer," said Agnez Mo during her meeting with Kemenkum, Wednesday (19/2/2025).

1. Compare with LMK in the United States

According to him, the system implemented in America could serve as a learning material for Indonesia in managing music copyright. He also discussed how LMK in America works to protect the rights of songwriters and singers.

"At that time in America, what was the LMK like, I myself was actually part of, in quotes, the LMK in America, namely BMI for 12 years," he said.

2. Hoping There Will Be No Misinterpretation

From that experience, Agnez hopes for improvements in the implementation of the Copyright Law in Indonesia to prevent misunderstandings that harm musicians and songwriters. She feels that discussions with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights have been a good initial step to find solutions.

"Well, that was what we also discussed, and hopefully this can help in the future so that there will be no more misinterpretation of the law," she expressed.
