Titiek Puspa Has Long Determined Her Burial Location: I Am in the Middle, Yes

The final resting place of Titiek Puspa at TPU Tanah Kusir, South Jakarta, is not just a spontaneous choice. According to her daughter, Petty Tunjungsari, the maestro had long determined her wish to be buried in that location.

Petty explained that the decision was the result of a conversation between Titiek Puspa and Petty's sister, Ella, who has three burial plots in that location.

"Actually, my sister has three plots there. There is her mother-in-law's plot. Then she has two more plots. It turns out she (Titiek Puspa) once talked to my sister, Ella, 'De, I want to be in the middle, okay,'" said Petty at the PTIK Building, South Jakarta.

Petty, who also serves as the Managing Director of Titiek Puspa Management, revealed that she often becomes her mother's sparring partner in various important conversations, including those about burial.

"So, indeed, conversations about burial have been going on for a long time. I think, 'Well, artists, the direction is heading there,'" said Petty.

Conversations about death have become part of their daily lives, including discussions about locations that are considered quite symbolic.

"I am not just a child; I am also the managing director of Titiek Puspa Management, but I also have to be her sparring partner. Wherever she wants to talk, I have to follow," added Petty.

He also assesses that conversations like these are part of adapting to changing times and new ways of thinking.

"Sometimes, yes, as they say, it is the new world, the new type of business, the new way of thinking, well that's adaptation. And I often teach slowly," he explained.

The burial decision shows how Titiek Puspa has prepared everything calmly and thoughtfully even until her final day.
