Uya Kuya Reveals the Moments Leaving Home During the Looting: Only Brought 4 Clothes, Everything Left Behind

Uya Kuya shared a heartbreaking story behind the incident of his house being looted that occurred on August 30, 2025. In panic, he and his family were forced to leave their residence with only the clothes on their bodies, without having the chance to save any valuable items.

Uya recounted how chaotic the situation was at that time. He, along with his wife, Astrid, and their children, could only bring four pieces of clothing when evacuated from their home in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta.

The decision to leave the house was made in a state of confusion and desperation, resulting in many important documents and sentimental items that could not be saved.

"I only brought four shirts and we really didn't have time to take anything out, just brought four shirts and took the car, that's it," said Uya Kuya when met at the East Jakarta Metro Police, Wednesday (03/9/2025).

"All the documents, marriage certificate, everything, my in-laws' stuff, well, they didn't make it, they weren't taken," he explained.

For Uya, the biggest loss is not material, but the memories stored in those items. He mentioned that his children cried because family photos from childhood to adulthood also became victims in the incident.

"The children must be crying because there are things, big family photos of us, photos of the children when they were little, wedding photos," he said.

Although it was initially guarded by local residents, a larger wave of mass could not be contained. "The local residents were helping to guard, but suddenly there was a larger group that rushed in as if there was a provocation," he concluded.
