Visited by Customs Officials Due to Accusations of Selling Illegal Goods, Putra Siregar Tells the Actual Chronology

The 27-year-old man emphasized that his case with Customs happened when he was just starting his career as an entrepreneur in Jakarta in 2017.

"So I was visited by Customs not at the port or airport. But at my 2x3 meter store in the Condet area, East Jakarta," said Putra Siregar when met in the Condet area, East Jakarta, on Friday (31/7).

1. Starting from a Friend Needing Money

This PSstore owner started telling the chronology of the arrival of Customs officers to his store at that time. It all started when a friend wanted to sell goods to him because he needed money.

"I forgot exactly when, but in 2017 my friend contacted me late at night wanting to sell goods to me. I was in Batam. He needed money and wanted to sell goods, and I said just come to the store in Condet," said Putra Siregar.

2. Inspected by Customs

At that time, in his store, there were his siblings named Lahatta and Leris who usually took care of and served buyers, but at that time, not only the friend who wanted to sell goods came, but also someone from Customs came with his friend. After that, before the goods to be sold were checked, the Customs officer who came immediately took the goods and Putra Siregar's siblings to the office for inspection.

"Then suddenly he came to deliver the goods with the Customs officer. Well, they asked whose goods (cell phone) it was, because the clearance was not finished yet, they said it had a problem. Even though the goods were supposed to be seen first before being paid. But the Customs officer immediately took the goods to the office, and then my sibling was taken for inspection," he said.

3. Checked for Three Days

The businessman who has the slogan 'Hp Pejabat Harga Merakyat' (Cellphones for Government Officials at Affordable Prices) admitted that at that time his brother was checked for three days by Customs Officials. Not only accused of embezzlement, Putra was also accused of Money Laundering.

"Then not long after that, suddenly I received a summons letter. They asked who ordered the goods from my friend. I said it was me. Then I completed all the necessary documents and went back and forth there," he said.

"When accused of Money Laundering, I handed over my bank account and assets. Please check, I never sent my money abroad. Because I started as a trader from scratch, if I have money, I buy goods," he concluded.

Not forgetting, Putra Siregar affirmed that he will resolve his case with Customs until it reaches the trial stage, and will pay for the losses so that the issue can be resolved quickly.
