Ayu Ting Ting's Portrait Reveals the Lebaran Tradition That the Family Always Looks Forward To

"Silaturahmi. Usually we gather at home because the oldest sibling of my father is no longer around, and my mother also has her siblings, so we gather at home as usual every year," she said when met on Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, recently.  

In addition to maintaining family ties, Ayu and her family also have a tradition of serving special Lebaran dishes. Lontong sayur, semur, and opor are mandatory dishes that are always served on their dining table every year.

"If there’s a favorite menu at home, it has to have lontong sayur, then also semur, opor, that must be there. And also envelopes. If we don’t prepare the envelopes, we’ll get hit later haha," said the singer of the song Alamat Palsu while laughing. 

Not only food, Ayu also ensures that the tradition of wearing matching outfits is maintained. She often takes the initiative to choose the design of the clothes and offers it to family members through the family WhatsApp group. 

"Yes, I mean it’s done. If there’s something funny or whatever while I’m looking at something, I’ll definitely pass it on. So, I offer it to the family in the group, ‘Do you want this, do you want that,’ I just offer it. Then, my younger sister says, ‘Oh, okay,’ and just follows along," she said. 

This tradition is carried out by Ayu to maintain the unity and togetherness of the family, especially when everyone gathers during special moments like Eid. Ayu also expressed that although she is busy working during Ramadan, she strives to ensure that the togetherness during Idulfitri feels warm.   "What matters is the togetherness. When the family gathers, everything becomes more exciting," added this mother of one.

For Ayu, the Lebaran tradition is not just about food or clothing, but also about the precious moments spent with the extended family that she is always grateful for every year.
