Dewi Perssik Claims to Have Experienced Domestic Violence by Her Ex-Husband and Fought Back

Kapanlagi.com - Dangdut singer Dewi Perssik apparently became a victim of domestic violence while still married to her former husband. Despite being treated that way, Dewi Perssik claimed she wouldn't stay silent.

When met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta recently, Dewi Perssik claimed to have fought back when she experienced violence by her husband at the time. Dewi Perssik said that at the time she was hit and thrown by her ex-husband.

"That's what happened in my life (domestic violence). Because when I was thrown and punched, I immediately got up and punched back," said Dewi Perssik.

1. Dewi Perssik's Resistance

Not only that, when resisting, Dewi Perssik threw things around her. She did it as a form of self-protection from the domestic violence committed by her ex-husband.

Even Dewi Perssik also mentioned that her ex-husband was hurt after being hit by the thrown objects, and she asked whether she would also be a suspect when trying to protect herself.

"Whatever was there, I took it and punched back. I threw away all my belongings to protect myself. Now when the things I threw hit his body and eventually made him hurt, whether it was his eyes or legs, am I a suspect? A question for me, am I a suspect when protecting myself?" she said.

2. Women Must Be Brave

Furthermore, when asked further, Dewi Perssik believes that women should be brave in fighting against violence, especially in cases of domestic violence. She also believes that if a woman resists when experiencing such violence, it cannot be called domestic violence as it is when men do it to women.

"In my opinion, this is not domestic violence, it's just a fight. Because domestic violence applies to men against women," she said.

"But if a woman fights back, it's different. Women are considered weak, unless they know martial arts or have extraordinary strength. For example, if the man is stronger and more powerful, and the woman protects herself from unwanted things, it's just a fight," she concluded.
