Senior dangdut singer Ikke Nurjanah, who currently serves as the Chairperson of the Indonesian Dangdut Royalty Award (ARDI), speaks out about the controversy surrounding royalty distribution from the National Collective Management Institution (LMKN). She firmly questions the clarity of the royalty figure of Rp 25 million that has drawn attention.
This issue has arisen amid criticism from several music industry players regarding transparency and the royalty distribution system. Ikke stated that, to date, her side has not received a detailed explanation regarding the basis for calculating that figure.
In her statement, Ikke emphasized that ARDI does not simply accept the offered amount. She believes that transparency is a primary requirement before the royalty can be accepted by her side.
According to Ikke, this situation puts ARDI in a difficult position, especially when having to explain to its members regarding the distribution of royalties received.
"Because all this time, if we tell our members the formula is like this, the method is like this, the percentage is from this, you will get this much. Now that is what we cannot explain, LMKN has to explain it to the members," said Ikke.
She hopes that in the future, LMKN can be more open and involve the LMK in the decision-making process. For Ikke, transparency and two-way communication are key to preventing the royalty controversy from continuing.
