Mela Bandung Realizes Her Dream at Dangdut Academy 8, Inspired by Lesti Kejora

Kapanlagi.com - Mela Pujayanti is one of the contestants who successfully advanced to the Final Audition of Dangdut Academy 8. The 18-year-old from Bandung has admitted that she has dreamed of becoming a singer since childhood, with Lesti Kejora as her biggest inspiration.

Her desire to participate in the largest dangdut talent search in Indonesia grew stronger after seeing Lesti's career journey. Mela hopes that Dangdut Academy can be the first step in developing her abilities as a professional singer.

"My motivation is because maybe from the start I wanted to be a singer. And then there's Teh Lesti. I'm really a big fan. So the more I go on, the more interested I become," said Mela when met at Studio 5 Emtek City, West Jakarta, Friday (3/7/2026).

In addition to idolizing Lesti, Mela also admires Melly Lee. According to her, both singers have different vocal characters and are equally inspiring in singing.

"Teh Melly and Teh Lesti are different, right? Teh Lesti has her own character, and so does Teh Melly. But I prefer Teh Melly; her vocal style is really unique, I like it," she said.

2. Beginning of Interest in the World of Singing

Mela admitted that she started to like the world of singing when she was in the 5th grade of elementary school. Before delving into dangdut, she first sang gambus songs and Sundanese Pop.

"I have liked singing since 5th grade. At first, I sang gambus songs, you know, and Sundanese Pop," she revealed.

3. Maximum Preparation in Dangdut Academy 8

Now, after successfully breaking into the top 53 of the Final Audition of Dangdut Academy 8, Mela is preparing herself as much as possible. Full support from her family and the surrounding environment becomes a motivation for her to perform at her best.

"The family at home is happy, thank God they are very supportive. My surroundings are also, thank God, supportive," Mela concluded.
