'Reunited' After 39 Years Apart, Rhoma Irama: Rita Sugiarto and I Have No Conflict

Kapanlagi.com - Rhoma Irama reunites with his duet partner, Rita Sugiarto, after 39 years apart. The reunion of the two dangdut legends is marked by the release of their single Tulus Hati Luhur Budi, which they both sang, on Friday (12/6/2020).

As known, the collaboration between Rhoma and Rita began in 1976 when Rita joined Soneta. They have released at least 20 albums together. However, in 1981, Rita Sugiarto chose to separate from the Dangdut King. Rita chose to pursue a career with her husband, Zacky Zimah, in the group Zackta.

Rita's resignation from Soneta was a mystery. At that time, many thought that there was a conflict between them. Rhoma Irama emphasized that Rita's resignation from Soneta was not due to any issues between them.

"Rita and I have no conflicts at all. Rita is like my younger sister, she has been living in my house since she was young, and she has been pursuing her career with me. So she is like my own family. Even when she decided to pursue her career outside of Soneta, I supported her," Rhoma explained during a virtual press conference on Friday (12/06).

Rhoma added that Rita has extraordinary abilities. Besides being a talented singer, Rita can also compose her own songs.

"That's why I wasn't worried when she decided to leave, because I knew she would continue to grow," Rhoma added.

After being separated for so long, Rhoma admitted to having a desire to reminisce with Rita. In addition, according to Rhoma, only Rita Sugiarto is the most suitable to sing his song Tulus Hati Luhur Budi together with him.

"I think the song Tulus Hati Luhur Budi is only suitable and fitting for Rita to sing, that's why I asked Rita to duet with me," explained the owner of the real name Raden Irama.

In the same opportunity, Rita Sugiarto expressed her happiness to be able to duet with Rhoma Irama again.

"Of course, I feel happy to be able to duet with Mas Rhoma (Rita's nickname for Rhoma) after 39 years of being separated. Mas Rhoma is my teacher and my brother," explained Rita.
