Wika Salim's Pocket Money Was Only 4 Thousand During High School, Even Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Refused to Take Her Because She Couldn't Pay Enough

Dangdut singer Wika Salim recently caught the public's attention again. However, it was not because of her music or her latest appearance, but rather her touching childhood story.

In Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube channel, Wika Salim shared her experiences while she was still in high school. She reminisced about how difficult life was back then, including when she only received pocket money of 4 thousand rupiah every day. Check out the full story below.

Wika Salim's past contrasts with her life now. Known as a celebrity with a stable lifestyle, not many know that she once went through tough times.

Wika Salim revealed that when she was in high school, she only received an allowance of Rp4 thousand from her parents. That amount was not even enough to pay for the motorcycle taxi fare home from school. Wika admitted that she sometimes had to split that money to take both the public minibus and the motorcycle taxi from school to home.

The limited allowance often made Wika unable to pay the full motorcycle taxi fare. Over time, the motorcycle taxi drivers began to recognize her face. In her recollection, Wika mentioned that she even became a topic of conversation among the motorcycle taxi drivers. "There was even a motorcycle taxi driver who recognized my face, he didn’t want to take me because I often gave him less money," she recalled, reminiscing about her difficult past.

Not only one motorcycle taxi driver knows Wika Salim, but her colleagues at the motorcycle taxi base have also been warned about her. The motorcycle taxi drivers remind each other not to accept passengers who are known to often underpay. According to Wika, this makes it even harder for her to get a motorcycle taxi to go home. She even has to find other ways to get home even though she doesn't have enough fare.

In the midst of these limitations, Wika found a solution with her friend. The two of them decided to pool their money so they could ride a motorcycle taxi together.

Wika and her friend often go home together with three on a motorcycle. This way, the fare they have to pay can be split in half.

Although most motorcycle taxi drivers refused, there was still one driver willing to take them. Wika mentioned that only that driver continued to accept them as passengers even though he knew their fare was often insufficient. "There was only one person willing to take us because the others already knew that we always paid less," Wika recalled. Want to read the latest updates on other celebrities?
