Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verret tied the sacred vow of life together on Saturday (13/8/2024). Their wedding ceremony took place in Geiranger, on the west coast of Norway.

1. Dating for 4 Years

Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verret have been dating for 4 years. In 2022, they announced their engagement, their love seemed to grow stronger, until they officially became husband and wife.

Martha Louise is 52 years old, while Verret is younger, at 49 years old. This is not the first marriage for the Norwegian princess.

2. Already Has 3 Children

Previously, Princess Martha Louise was married. From her marriage to the late ex-husband, Ari Behn, Martha was blessed with three children. Verret is certainly ready to be a stepfather.

The Norwegian Royal Family, particularly King Harald V, has shown support for Princess Martha Louise's choice to marry Durek Verrett, an American shaman. King Harald congratulated them and expressed his happiness in welcoming Verrett into the royal family.

3. Focus on Business

However, this marriage has also sparked controversy. Princess Martha Louise stepped back from her royal duties in 2022 to focus on alternative medicine business with Verrett.

"There has been a lot of criticism over the years, because I am a spiritual person and that is taboo in Norway," said Princess Martha Louise as quoted by BBC in 2023.

4. Does Not Have a Royal Title

After marrying, Durek Verrett will not have a royal title or any official duties. In an agreement in 2019, Martha Louise and Verrett also agreed not to use their relationship with the royal family for commercial purposes.

Although no longer having an official role in the royal family, Martha Louise remains part of the Norwegian throne lineage. She is fourth in line after her nephew, Prince Sverre Magnus.
