Justin Bieber suffers facial paralysis due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome, forced to cancel concert

Kapanlagi.com - Unpleasant news comes from Justin Bieber regarding his health condition. Through his personal Instagram account, Hailey's husband announced that he is suffering from paralysis on one side of his face.

In a video posted on Friday (10/6) local time, the Canadian singer explained that he is suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome which makes him unable to move half of his face. Due to his condition, he has to rest and cannot perform on stage.

"(The syndrome) is caused by a virus that attacks the nerves in the ear and face, causing my face to be paralyzed," said Justin Bieber in the video.

"As you can see, this eye doesn't blink. I can't smile on this side of my face; this nostril won't move. So there's total paralysis on this side of my face," he added.

1. Ramsay Hunt Syndrome

According to Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome occurs when a herpes zoster or shingles outbreak affects the facial nerves near one of your ears. In addition to painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.

2. Canceled Concert

Furthermore, Justin Bieber asked for understanding from fans who were frustrated with the cancellation of his recent concert. Bieber said that he was physically unable to perform on stage.

"(The condition) is quite serious, as you can see. I hope this doesn't happen, but clearly, my body is telling me that I need to rest," he said.

"I hope you understand. I will use this time to rest and relax and come back to 100% so that I can do what I need to do," he added.

3. Optimistic About Recovery

Not forgetting, Justin Bieber also thanked fans for their patience. Currently, he is undergoing facial exercises to aid in his recovery process.

Justin Bieber himself said he didn't know how long it would take to fully recover. However, earlier this week it was announced that three upcoming Justin Bieber performances would be postponed.

"Everything will be okay," he said.

"I have hope, and I believe in God," Justin Bieber concluded.
