Admitting Stingy Praise, Dian Sastrowardoyo Proudly Watches Arya Saloka's Acting in 'GADIS KRETEK'

Kapanlagi.com - Dian Sastrowardoyo and Arya Saloka are involved in the original Netflix series titled GADIS KRETEK. However, there is no interaction between them in one frame because the characters Jeng Yah and Lebas, whom they portray, live in different years.

Dian and Arya had the opportunity to watch the first two episodes of this series during the world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. There, Dian saw Arya's performance and gave praise.

"In my opinion, Arya managed to completely detach himself from his previous character (Aldebaran). And the character Lebas, in my opinion, is an achievement, Dek. Good job, I'm proud as an older sister. He's smart, talented, and good," said Dian when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (11/1/2023).

"Thank you, Mbak," replied Arya on the same occasion.

From the preparations before shooting to the departure to the Busan International Film Festival, Arya Saloka revealed that Dian Sastrowardoyo is a good colleague. When compliments are given, it means something.

"Mbak Dian always encourages me. When we went to Busan, I was a bit nervous after watching, right? Then Mbak Dian said, 'You're really good'. It's kind of like," said Arya.

"I rarely, you know, I'm stingy (with praise)," added Dian.

"That's why I know (stingy with praise)," added Arya Saloka.

2. Stuck with the Character of Aldebaran

Arya Saloka indeed made a great effort to let go of the character of Aldebaran that had been stuck to him. Various methods were used, from neutralizing his gaze, changing body gestures, to learning new acting methods under the guidance of actor Rukman Rosadi, who acted as an acting coach.

"The challenge is how I can bring a new person to life. Roughly speaking, I have been stuck with the old person for almost two years. Maybe people already know the character of Aldebaran, and separating that is quite a challenge," explained Arya.
