Atiqah Hasiholan Faces New Challenge in the Film 'MELUKIS HARAPAN DI LANGIT INDIA'

Kapanlagi.com - Actress Atiqah Hasiholan once again demonstrates her dedication in the world of acting through her latest family drama film, MELUKIS HARAPAN DI LANGIT INDIA (MHLI). This time, she faces a quite heavy and different challenge from her previous projects, which is learning Indian dance.

This challenge becomes a new experience for Atiqah, who has been more known for her acting skills than for dancing. Atiqah admits that the process of learning Indian dance is not easy. She shares how she has to adjust her body movements that she is not used to doing.

"What is memorable yet difficult for me during this shoot is learning Indian dance. Because basically I am not a flexible person and here I have to dance Indian," said Atiqah Hasiholan in the Saharjo area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (12/11/2024).

This also marks the first time Atiqah dances in a film, an experience she refers to as her dancing debut in the acting world.

1. A Unique Role

"Yes, I have never (danced in a film), it seems like it is (my debut)," she said.

Not only dancing, Atiqah also received a rather unique role in this film, which is as a mother who experiences delusions and has an obsession with an Indian celebrity.

"The story here is very unique, for me it is quite different because the character is unique. I have to be a mother with delusions, obsessed with one figure of a celebrity, that exists you know," explained Atiqah.

According to her, this role brings a new perspective in viewing the character of a mother with a complex personality. The mother character played by Atiqah becomes the center of the intriguing chaos of the story in this film. She depicts a mother who lives with wild imagination about an Indian celebrity, which then disrupts her small family's life.

2. Devi's Journey

"Well, I became someone like that, and then there's my mother. So the chaos of this story begins with the delusional mothers that I portray," she said.

PAINTING HOPE IN THE SKY OF INDIA tells the story of Devi, played by Masayu Anastasia, who believes that the legendary Indian actor, Amitabh Bachchan, is her biological father.

This belief drives Devi on a quest from Indonesia to India to uncover the truth she has always believed in. The film also features other notable actors such as Rifnu Wikana and Ricky Komo, who further strengthen the storyline.

The filming process was quite challenging, with shooting locations in three countries: Indonesia, India, and Nepal. This certainly adds an international impression to the film directed by Emilka Bias. PAINTING HOPE IN THE SKY OF INDIA is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 12, 2024.
