'CERITA SOFI', Horror Film with a Different Nuance Amidst the Exploitation of Religious Elements

This film is directed by Ivan Bandhito and is scheduled to be released in 2024. Ivan gave a description of what to expect from this film to the media.

"The global film industry's domination in the country, especially in the horror genre which is often associated with rural settings and religious themes as moral identity, is not easy to overcome. However, I believe that every genre of film has different sub-genres and a narrow understanding of a genre is not necessary," said Ivan.

"As we know, even within the horror genre, there are sub-genres such as horror comedy, horror romance, horror thriller, horror psychology, and others. CERITA SOFI invites the audience to enter a supernatural event where reason and logic are needed to enjoy it," he continued.

Meanwhile, Jonathan HM, the executive producer, stated that the main strength of CERITA SOFI lies in the chilling ghost figure and the mystery that is eventually revealed behind the haunting in the film.

CERITA SOFI tells the story of a character named Sofi and her four siblings who experience a tragic event while on vacation in their hometown. The carelessness of one of them leads to a haunting terror and a mystery that they must solve amidst their personal conflicts and their reconciliation as a family.
