Junaid Miran, Animator from Pakistan Claims His Characters Were Used in 'MERAH PUTIH ONE FOR ALL'
Artist Junaid Miran, a 3D animator from Pakistan, publicly accused the production team of the animated film MERAH PUTIH ONE FOR ALL.
Kapanlagi.com - Animation lovers in the country are currently buzzing about the trailer for the film MERAH PUTIH ONE FOR ALL. A scene featuring a weapon warehouse has raised significant questions among viewers. The appearance of long-barreled weapons like the AK-47 in this children's film has sparked sharp criticism. In fact, this film is supposed to embody the spirit of nationalism and adventure.
Moreover, this film, aimed at children, should focus on the theme of nationalism. The presence of firearms raises major questions about the appropriateness of the content. So, what exactly is happening behind the scenes of this animated film's production? The producer has also spoken out to provide an official clarification.
Director Endiarto explained that the location is a miniature of a village hall warehouse. This place serves as a storage for props for the celebration of August 17th. One of the props is a weapon typically used to portray Dutch soldiers.
"So, this is a village hall warehouse, a place for storing flags, and since it's the moment for the August 17th celebration, these are props for the commemoration of August 17th," he said as reported by Detik.
Endiarto reiterated that the weapons seen are referred to as props or merely toys. These items will be used for the performance commemorating the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence.
"In the trailer, there’s a leak of someone wearing Dutch clothing carrying a weapon, well, that’s the prop in the warehouse. So it's not a real weapon. It's a toy weapon, a prop. Props for the celebration. So if there are those playing as Dutch troops, they will certainly carry weapons, long barrels, short ones, like that," he concluded.
Some netizens suspect that the weapon warehouse model resembles a 3D asset from Daz3D.com. The asset can be found by searching "military warehouse" and includes various types of firearms:
This adds to the speculation about the rushed film production process. This controversy adds to the list of criticisms against the film MERAH PUTIH ONE FOR ALL. Previously, the stiff animation quality had also been a topic of discussion.
