Film 'SRIMULAT: HIL YANG MUSTAHAL', Not Just Giving Laughter

Kapanlagi.com - The film SRIMULAT: HIL YANG MUSTAHAL is scheduled to be released in Indonesian theaters on May 19, 2022. Although produced during the pandemic, it did not deter the director, Fajar Nugros, from giving his best touch.

Set in 1981, the film, a collaboration between MNC Pictures and IDN Pictures, tells the story of the glory days of the comedy group that was one of the pioneers of the entertainment world in Indonesia, Srimulat.

The long history of the group that originated from folk performances has produced many top comedians in Indonesia and well-known in their era.

"Srimulat is one of the most known comedy groups, each member has a distinctive characteristic that is so memorable to their fans. Until now, Srimulat still inspires comedians in the present time because their jokes are timeless. This film will revive nostalgia and cure the audience's longing for the typical funny actions of Srimulat," said Titan Hermawan, CEO of MNC Pictures.

2. A Long Journey

Indeed, Srimulat has had a long and winding journey since its founding. Personnel have come and gone. Nevertheless, there are many lessons that can be learned from its history.

"I hope that this film not only brings laughter, but also meaning. Not only to entertain Indonesia, which is tired due to the pandemic, but also to make us reread the meaning of unity through the Indonesian language, just like what Srimulat fought for through its comedy," said Fajar Nugros, who was trusted to direct the film.

Carrying the slogan #SaatnyaIndonesiaTertawa, this film also reflects Indonesia's condition, which is slowly starting to move past the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We hope that the spirit and impact that the Srimulat group has given to this country can be felt and celebrated together when the film is shown in theaters later on," said Susanti Dewi, Head of IDN Pictures.

The film SRIMULAT: Impossible Loss is starred by a number of famous actors, such as Ibnu Jamil, Morgan Oey, Indah Permatasari, Rano Karno, Dimas Anggara, Teuku Rifnu Wikana, and several other actors.
