Gading Marten and Gisel 'Reconcile' in 'MODUAL NEKAD', How Come?

Gading Marten explained that in the film Modual Nekad, the character Saipul undergoes a significant personality transformation. Saipul is depicted as having gone through a mature process of growing up. This change is evident in his scale of life priorities, which now no longer focuses on himself, but rather prioritizes the interests of his extended family and the future of his child.

"Saipul is already an adult there. I mean, he is mature in seeing the circumstances and everything. He (Saipul) also, as the oldest brother, has to protect his younger siblings. Then he also has to reconcile with Gina (the character Gisel) because of his love for Aisyah (his child). So, prioritizing family is important there," said Gading Marten at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Monday (22/12/2025).

Furthermore, Gading Marten feels that the process of Saipul's character maturity in the script somewhat resembles his own life journey. The father of Gempita Nora Marten seems very relaxed in responding to the storyline that requires him to act in reconciliation with Gisel. For him, the script is a form of creativity from Imam Darto that is quite amusing.

"And yes, that's where we are also growing up here. So, when I saw the script, 'Hahaha Darto, you could do that,'" said Gading Marten while laughing.

Many are curious whether the chemistry as husband and wife still exists between them or if there is an awkward feeling when on set. In response to this, Gading emphasized that professionalism is the most important thing. Both he and Gisel agreed to give their best totality for the success of the film without bringing personal feelings in front of the camera.

"There's no (awkwardness). As soon as we're on set, on camera, we just do what needs to be done," said Gading Marten.

Gisella Anastasia also shared her comments regarding the scenario that reunites them as a couple. Gisel views the storyline written by Imam Darto not just as a plot necessity, but as a clever promotional move.

"We knew as soon as we saw the script, 'Wow, Mr. Darto's marketing brain really works here,'" said Gisel.

As both the director and screenwriter, Imam Darto has strong reasons behind the decision to reunite the characters Saipul and Gina. In this film, Gina is portrayed as undergoing a drastic change in her life, deciding to embrace a new path. This spiritual transformation then becomes a bridge for both of them to reconnect in a marriage.

"So, how can they reconcile? Gina has to do something quite extreme, which is that she has to change 180 degrees. She (Gina) converts. Masya Allah," explained Imam Darto.
