'GHOST WRITER 2' Being Developed, Director Replaced - Ernest Prakasa No Longer Involved

Kapanlagi.com - Last year, Bene Dion made his directorial debut with the film GHOST WRITER. This horror comedy starred Tatjana Saphira, Deva Mahenra, as well as Asmara Abigail and Ge Pamungkas who played ghost characters.

Bene admitted that he didn't believe his film would attract 1.1 million viewers during its circulation. Initially, the audience didn't seem very enthusiastic.

"I didn't expect it (to have many viewers) because the intention was just to make a film sincerely and somewhat experimental. I mean, in Indonesia maybe there have been attempts at horror comedy genre but not many. At that time, the intention was to make it as good as possible regardless of the result. Initially, the number of viewers wasn't very good. But later on, maybe due to word of mouth, many people watched it," said Bene during a live session on Instagram CGV Cinemas, recently.

1. Ernest Prakasa Not Involved

Due to its success, a sequel titled GHOST WRITER 2 was made. However, Bene Dion is no longer the director but the creative producer, a position previously held and now left by Ernest Prakasa.

"I am taking over Koh Ernest's position as the creative producer. Koh Ernest is no longer involved," explained Bene, who was known more as a screenwriter before making his directorial debut.

2. Muhadkly Acho Chosen to Direct the Sequel

Bene Dion handed over the director's chair to actor and comedian Muhadkly Acho. This was intentional because from the beginning, GHOST WRITER was intended to be a catalyst for the emergence of new names in the industry.

"Actually, from the beginning, my intention and Koh Ernest's intention in making GHOST WRITER was to be a catalyst for the emergence of new people in the industry. At that time, Koh Ernest gave me the director's chair, and now for the second film, we are thinking about who can handle it. In the first film, Muhadkly Acho was the comedy consultant, and for the second film, I offered him to be the director to Mr. Parwes (producer)," Bene concluded.
