Mira Lesmana also plays a role as the screenwriter of the film RANGGA & CINTA alongside Titien Wattimena. In addition, the film's production is enlivened by many other contributions from various behind-the-scenes roles. The music arrangement was done by Anto Hoed and Melly Goeslaw, with Jeremia Parulian as the music assistant, Satrio Budiono (sound designer), Ichsan Rachmaditta (sound recorder), Pasha Prakasa (choreographer), Oka Lewianata and Ayu Gurnitha (choreography assistants), Aline Jusria (editor), Dita Gambiro (artistic designer), Vera Lestafa (cinematographer), Dara Asvia (costume designer), and Novi Ariyanti (makeup artist).

In realizing the vision of the film RANGGA & CINTA, the director and producers moved to find new young talents through a long series of auditions. They agreed to search for a number of new faces through a tight audition process to complete the project in order to find actors who are a perfect match for the characters in the film.
"To find them, our journey was quite long. The audition process was conducted in several stages over about six months, from April to September, and recorded more than 700 teenagers who participated in the auditions." said Mira Lesmana on Friday (28/02).
The actors who were eventually selected through the auditions have now undergone 20 days of shooting for RANGGA & CINTA and are expected to finish by the end of March 2025. The newly selected names are El Putra Sarira (Rangga), Leya Princy (Cinta), Jasmine Nadya (Alya), Kyandra Sembel (Maura), Katyana Mawira (Milly), Daniella Tumiwa (Karmen), Rafly Altama (Mamet), and Rafi Sudirman (Borne).

Before entering the discussion session with the cast and the production team, a behind the scenes video showcasing the casting process and rehearsals for RANGGA & CINTA was screened. In the video, the seriousness of the director, Riri Riza, along with the producers in selecting the right actors is clearly visible.
Mira Lesmana stated that the recruitment process to find the right actors was very strict. "The selection process is quite rigorous, because besides having to assess their acting abilities, we also need to see their compatibility with the characters they will portray, as well as the compatibility of one character with another to create a cohesive cast ensemble."
Entering the shooting practice phase, the actors appeared to work together to build chemistry in order to bring to life the souls of the legendary film characters from ADA APA DENGAN CINTA? from before. According to Nicholas Saputra, the co-producer of RANGGA & CINTA, they are not only multi-talented young people, but also possess a serious dedication and high commitment during the shooting preparations.

The film RANGGA & CINTA will retell the story found in ADA APA DENGAN CINTA? from before. The setting used, according to Riri Riza, is still aimed at capturing the era when President Gus Dur led Indonesia and seeking locations that can still depict the old urban side. This is done to maintain the film's vision as a medium for nostalgia.
Through the behind the scene video shown at the press conference, Mira Lesmana expressed her opinion in a snippet of an interview session. "I feel that the film RANGGA & CINTA will be the most appropriate film to represent high school students today, while also being a memory because it has been 23 years for those who used to watch this film in theaters."
In the same video, Riri Riza added that many new aspects will be offered in the film RANGGA & CINTA. "In this film, we try to provide new approaches, new treatments, new energy, and especially by offering new talents for the Indonesian film industry."
Melly Goeslaw, as one of the music arrangers for the film RANGGA & CINTA, revealed that the songs previously used in AADC will be reused. However, it is known that there are two new songs that will be featured in the film later.

As actors in the remake of a film that is over 2 decades old, they certainly cannot escape the shadows of the expectations of AADC fans to meet the image of the previous cast. "We provided a long enough time to practice, yes. Because maybe, the challenges are a bit different compared to us (the cast of AADC) back then." Nicholas Saputra stated in a behind the scene video.
El Putra shared his thoughts when asked about continuing the role of Rangga, previously played by Nicholas Saputra. "Of course, it’s very nerve-wracking to be monitored by Rangga 1.0, the OG, and Mas Nicho is also very supportive. I also had a chance to talk to him about how to embody (Rangga) and coincidentally, I am also very ... I always never feel not nervous. So, I always feel nervous, but I often talk to Mas Nicho about how to (become Rangga)."
Not only El Putra, but other cast members also practiced to embody the characters of RANGGA & CINTA. One of the other actors who shared his opinion is Rafly Altama. "So for our chemistry, we have already talked a lot and exchanged ideas about Milly and Mamet. Yes, we have already delved into the characters of Milly and Mamet as well. We were also helped by Mas Riri, Mbak Mira, and Mas Nicho. The other friends were also very supportive of our characters." She said during an interview session with the media.
"I really enjoy being able to build the dynamics of Milly and Mamet together with Rafly. Because he as Mamet is a funny character." Added Katyana Mawira as the actress playing the character Milly.

One day, Cinta participates in an annual poetry contest at her school. However, the name that comes out as the winner of the contest is not hers, but rather a student who is not well-known at school named Rangga (El Putra Sarira). Thanks to this event, Cinta begins to feel curious about Rangga. The two become very close afterward, and eventually, romance blossoms between them.
