Hanung Bramantyo Finds a Way to Continue Shooting Amidst the Pandemic, Film Crew Also Gets Income

The effects include the closure of cinemas, postponed film release schedules, and the cessation of shooting activities. The halt in the shooting process of several titles has left film crews without income.

1. Still Making Films

Seeing this fact, director Hanung Bramantyo is trying to find a way for the shooting process to continue so that the crew can still work. He conducted a trial by shooting a short film with his children.

"Yesterday, I tried making a film at home, and it turned out it's possible. From there, I adopted the idea of scaling it up. Not only at home, but also in a certain area. The cast is from outside, but still limited to a few people. We're still finding ways to continue shooting," said Hanung as quoted during a live session on Instagram Cinema XXI, Monday (27/4).

2. Reducing Crew for Shooting

Certainly, Hanung Bramantyo is very detailed in mapping out the shooting process if it can be carried out properly. One thing for sure, the number of crew members will be reduced, not as many as usual. They are also required to use hand sanitizers, as well as disinfectant sprays on equipment before use.

"We will reduce the number of people. Usually, there are 200 people involved in each production. For example, the cameraman will bring the necessary people, assistants, and equipment guards. After being assembled before holding the camera, it will be sprayed with disinfectant first. And no one is allowed to touch the camera except the cameraman. Because it's like that abroad," explained the husband of Zaskia Adya Mecca.

"Before starting activities, we need to understand the characteristics of this virus. It will infect unclean people. So it's better to have interactions with only 15 people because we can keep an eye on them. If there are 30 people, it will be difficult to remind everyone. That's why with family, we can remind each other," concluded Hanung.
