Love Hindered by Ideology, 'KUPU-KUPU KERTAS' Trailer Presents Amanda Manopo and Chicco Kurniawan as a Couple

Kapanlagi.com - The film 'KUPU-KUPU KERTAS' starring Chicco Kurniawan and Amanda Manopo has just released its official trailer. Although it is only one minute and forty-two seconds long, it manages to present something intriguing.

The film, directed by Emil Heradi, is essentially a romantic drama. However, the background used, which is the massacre in Banyuwangi in 1965, adds an interesting flavor to the story.

"I really like historical stories. When making a film about history, it shouldn't go unnoticed by people, so I spiced it up with a strong love story to engage the audience," said Denny Siregar, the producer, in a press conference some time ago.

1. Back From the Original Schedule

The trailer states the release date of KUPU-KUPU KERTAS, which will be shown in cinemas across Indonesia on February 7, 2024. This release date is different from the initial announcement.

At that time, Denny Siregar revealed that the film would be released in cinemas at the end of the year, in December 2023. However, due to various considerations, it was postponed to February 2024.

2. Conflict of Two Ideologies

KUPU-KUPU KERTAS tells the story of a romantic relationship between Ning and Ihsan. Their love story is difficult to unite because of a conflict between two ideologies: Ning comes from a PKI family, while Ihsan comes from a Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) family.
