Marsha Timothy Plays Meirose in 'SYTD 3', Lacks Confidence Compared to Raline Shah

Kapanlagi.com - The movie SURGA YANG TAK DIRINDUKAN 3 (SYTD 3) directed by Pritagita Airanegara was supposed to be released in theaters. However, due to the pandemic, MD Pictures decided to exclusively stream it on Disney+ Hotstar.

When the official poster and trailer were released, it was revealed that the actress playing Meirose had changed from Raline Shah to Marsha Timothy. In an interview with the media, Marsha admitted that she lacked confidence when first playing the character.

"I was not confident when I had to portray this character at first. There were many adjustments that had to be made," said Marsha, who was interviewed at MD Place in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (17/3/2021).

1. A Different Meirose

Marsha Timothy's lack of confidence is understandable considering that the audience is more familiar with Raline Shah as Meirose. However, now that she has been entrusted with the role, Marsha does not want to simply follow and instead wants to bring a fresh perspective.

"The character I am playing is already well-known and loved by fans of SURGA YANG TAK DIRINDUKAN. If I had to be the same from the beginning, I feel like I couldn't do it. But I try my best to capture the essence of this character. That's why I constantly ask Prita and even though she is busy, I keep asking," said the wife of Vino G Bastian.

2. Different Characters of Reza Rahadian

In contrast to Marsha Timothy, Reza Rahadian is actually involved in this sequel even though his role is new. What's unique is that he intentionally requested Manoj Punjabi, the producer, to appear in the same film with a different role.

SURGA YANG TAK DIRINDUKAN 3 takes place after the second film where Pras and Meirose finally live together after Arini's death. Conflict arises when a man from Meirose's past comes to shake up their relationship. Who will Meirose choose? Find out starting April 16th.
