Mawar de Jongh Reveals the Differences Between 'WHAT'S UP WITH SECRETARY KIM' and the Original Version, There Are Indonesian Elements

This adaptation film airing on the Vidio app indeed presents several differences from the original version. The names of the actors are one of the elements that have been adjusted. 

"One of the names definitely has to change, because Kim Mi So itself is already a Korean name, so it feels a bit unlikely if we use that name here, so it was changed to Kimberly Laksono," said Mawar de Jongh. 

Not to be left out, director Rako Prijanto also adjusted the food displayed in this film's scenes. 

"Then maybe there are some scenes of them eating in Korea in a Korean style, here we have a scene of eating at an angkringan, so it's very Indonesian," continued Mawar.  

Furthermore, Mawar mentioned several other elements that make this film feel 'very Indonesian'.

"Besides being made more Indonesian, maybe the sets too, right? I think the sets are quite cool as well, because they have to depict the luxury of Mr. Rendra's workplace, and also some of the chosen sets, as far as I remember, are cool," Mawar expressed.

"So Kimberly has been working for a long time with Mr. Rendra, then one day Mr. Rendra is surprised by the news that Kim wants to resign, so he is like, oh this is my trusted secretary, she has fulfilled all the requests that might sound impossible but she can do it, so at that moment he is panicking too. But because Mr. Rendra also accepted Kim to work there for his own reasons from the beginning, and Kim eventually resigns for her own reasons, that’s where the love story begins," she concluded.
