Nunung Tells the Struggles of 'Possession' in 'CROW'S SATAY BLACK MAGIC', After Using Six Oxygen Tanks

Kapanlagi.com - Senior comedian Nunung once again demonstrates her dedication to acting in the latest horror film titled PESUGIHAN SATE GAGAK. In this film produced by Cahaya Pictures, Nunung plays the role of Ibu Imas, a mother trapped in a tense mystical situation.

Despite her experience in the entertainment world, Nunung admits that this shooting process has been one of the toughest experiences in her career.

“I try not to act like a senior, trying to have no juniors or seniors, everyone is equal. I am free to be treated however, as long as they don’t spit on me,” said Nunung when met by the media crew in Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Wednesday (5/11).

She mentioned that she tries to adapt to the younger cast members to keep the atmosphere on set relaxed and comfortable. Nunung also shared about one of the most challenging scenes she had to perform, which was when she experienced a brutal possession. This scene required a lot of energy and intense physical movement, which turned out to be quite exhausting for her.

"The difficulty of the brutal possession scene. With my body like this, then being possessed and chasing all the cast members, that’s tough," said the comedian who is also known through the Srimulat group.

1. Nunung's Total Commitment to Acting

Not only physically demanding, the scene also required multiple takes. This process left Nunung exhausted, needing oxygen to regain her strength.

"In the big screen, it definitely gets repeated, not because of mistakes but due to technical factors. Long shoots, and it starts all over again. Imagine, Nunung possessed, running after them in a very chaotic situation," she shared.

As a result, Nunung had to use several oxygen tanks to recover between shooting. "In the end, I took a break, oxygen tank. I ended up using six," she continued, laughing as she recalled the experience.

Even so, she admitted that she still enjoyed the process because everything was done with enthusiasm and togetherness. After the shooting process was completed, Nunung acknowledged that her body had dropped and needed quite a long time to recover. However, she remained grateful because all the crew and cast stayed healthy until the end of production.

"It is indeed exhausting at my age. But in the end, everything went well, everyone is healthy. Basically, whatever we do with a happy heart, the results will also be good," she said.

The film PESUGIHAN SATE GAGAK itself is the work of director Etienne Caesar and stars Yono Bakrie, Benedictus Siregar, and Ardit Erwandha. The story raises the theme of wealth through supernatural means packaged with a modern horror vibe, highlighting the story of three young people tempted to seek shortcuts to improve their economy.

This film is scheduled to be released in theaters starting November 13, 2025. With a combination of senior actors like Nunung and a lineup of talented young actors, Pesugihan Sate Gagak is expected to deliver tension as well as a different kind of entertainment for Indonesian horror film lovers.
