Kapanlagi.com - Today, exactly 22 years after the first Petualangan Sherina film was released in cinemas, Miles Films and BASE Entertainment officially announced their collaboration for Petualangan Sherina 2, which has now entered the production stage. Since it was first announced in 2020, the production preparation for Petualangan Sherina 2 has experienced several delays due to Covid-19 restrictions. However, during that period, Petualangan Sherina 2 continued to work on scenario development and music production.
Petualangan Sherina (2000) is Miles Films' first feature-length film that immediately became a phenomenon. Not only did it succeed at the box office in the midst of Indonesia's sluggish film industry at that time, but it also managed to bring Indonesian families back to the cinemas. They came in droves to queue for tickets. And now, more than 20 years later, Petualangan Sherina 2 will be prepared to greet its adult fans with a new adventure, full of nostalgia.
“Today we want to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the release of Petualangan Sherina, a legendary film that has become part of the new generation of Indonesian film audiences in the millennial era, by announcing that Petualangan Sherina 2 will finally enter the production stage,” said Mira Lesmana, producer of Petualangan Sherina 2. “I'm also excited to announce that we will collaborate again with BASE Entertainment, a studio that has produced successful works,” continued Mira.
The Adventure of Sherina 2 film is the third collaboration between Miles Films and BASE Entertainment. Previously, BASE Entertainment served as Executive Producer for two Miles films, namely Kulari ke Pantai (2018) and Bebas (2019).
"Collaboration has always been one of the important values in every production of BASE Entertainment. It's really exciting, not only to be able to collaborate again with Miles Films, but also to be part of the sequel to the legendary film that is still a favorite of Indonesian families," added Shanty Harmayn, CEO of BASE Entertainment.

Riri Riza will once again direct The Adventure of Sherina 2, while Sherina Munaf and Derby Romero will play the roles of adult Sherina and Sadam. "In the story, Sherina and Sadam, who have been separated for a long time, meet again in the tropical rainforest to face more challenging and surprising adventures," said Riri Riza about a little sneak peek of The Adventure of Sherina 2. "This sequel will be a new cinematic experience for the audience because besides still having a musical nuance, this time it will also be added with action-adventure elements," he added.
The screenplay for The Adventure of Sherina 2 film was written together by Jujur Prananto, Mira Lesmana, Riri Riza, and Virania Munaf. Sherina also participated in the story development with the writers. Meanwhile, for the music and soundtrack, Sherina composed eight songs which at this stage have been prepared for writing and choreography.
"It feels really proud, because this time in The Adventure of Sherina 2, I have the opportunity to be more involved in the making process. Besides being an actor and singer, I am grateful to be trusted to make songs and work on the film's core. For this film, I did physical preparation, such as practicing dance choreography and action scenes. Then at every stage in composing the songs for this film, I can pour out my love for storytelling through music," said Sherina.
The production of Petualangan Sherina 2 will be supported by Talamedia, a production house led by Mandy Marahimin, who will also be a co-producer for this film. Talamedia, previously known as Tanakhir Films, has previously collaborated with Miles in the film Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2 (2016).
