This film tells the story of a small family consisting of Pak Didit, Bu Prani, Tita, and Muklas. Bu Prani, played by Ine Febriyanti, is a guidance counselor.
Mr. Didit himself experienced psychological disturbances after the pandemic. The economic condition made it difficult for him to access good mental treatment.
The problem worsened when Mrs. Prani reprimanded a buyer who cut in line for putu cake. The moment was captured on camera and suddenly went viral. Mrs. Prani was heavily criticized by netizens.
BUDI PEKERTI depicts the phenomenon of post-truth, where the public blindly believes a video without knowing its truthfulness. The impact is also felt by Mrs. Prani and her family in the real world.
Tita and Muklas face social pressure from the community. Mrs. Prani herself is asked to make a clarification video and apologize by the school authorities.
In the BUDI PEKERTI trailer, Bu Prani initially refuses when asked to make a video apology because she feels she is not guilty. On the other hand, the school as a support system continues to exert pressure.
Tita, played brilliantly by Prilly, questions how her mother's 20 years of dedication as a teacher can be destroyed because of a viral video that only lasts 20 seconds.
BUDI PEKERTI is a work by Wregas Bhanuteja, who also directed PENYALIN CAHAYA. This film is set to be released in theaters on November 2, 2023.
