In the midst of loneliness, 13 meets Monji, a naive boy living in the slums of Jakarta. Monji's warmth slowly opens up the human side that she has buried deep inside.

Director Timo Tjahjanto through THE SHADOW STRAYS shows that a female character can be the center of an action film with power as formidable as male characters. Through brutal action and emotional drama, this film conveys a message about past wounds, moral choices, and the courage to fight against imposed fate.
