The Film 'LEMBAYUNG' Directed by Baim Wong is Ready to Screen in 6 Countries?

Kapanlagi.com - The renowned director and actor Baim Wong has just revealed exciting news about his horror film, LEMBAYUNG. This father of two has stated that the film has received offers to screen in several countries, including a possibility in Hollywood.

However, as of now, there is no certainty on when the film will be shown in American theaters.

"Actually, there are already six countries and someone from Hollywood has WhatsApped me. So they have heard about it and I have shown it to them, but it's not final yet," said Baim Wong at Epicentrum, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (13/9/2024).

1. Special Elements of Indonesia

Baim added that the cinema in Hollywood is interested in the way the filming and storyline of LEMBAYUNG are executed. According to him, they like the horror style that combines elements of drama and thriller, and brings something that is rarely found in the horror genre.

"They are interested in the filming technique, making horror into drama and thriller, because it’s rare to have horror followed by tears. Hopefully, just pray for it," explained Baim Wong.

In addition, Baim Wong intentionally added unique Indonesian elements, such as the sound of the bus 'telolet', into this film to strengthen the local identity that can become a unique attraction in the international market.

2. Coming Soon in Malaysia

Not only Hollywood, the film LEMBAYUNG will also be coming soon to Malaysia. Baim mentioned that the neighboring country was even the first to request that the film be shown there. Several major distributors in Malaysia are even competing to acquire the screening rights.

"Malaysia is also there, Malaysia was the first to request a screening there. Four major distributors contacted me fighting over it, because of Anna Jobling," he said.

The film LEMBAYUNG stars several top actors and actresses such as Arya Saloka, Yasamin Jasem, Taskya Namya, Oka Antara, Anna Jobling, Erick Estrada, and Asri Welas. The film is scheduled to start screening in Indonesian cinemas on September 19, 2024.
