These Three Indonesian Films Stop Shooting Because of the Corona Virus, What Are They?

This is based on the government's appeal regarding social distancing to suppress the spread of the virus. The following is a recap by the KapanLagi.com team of which film productions have stopped the shooting process temporarily until an undetermined time.

1. YOWIS BEN 3

YOWIS BEN 3 is acclaimed as the closing film of a trilogy that began in 2018. This comedy, starring Bayu Skak, Joshua, Brandon Salim, and Anya Geraldine, recently underwent shooting in Malang, East Java.

However, through his Twitter account, the director, Fajar Nugros, informed that the shooting had to be stopped. This was because during the location shoot, many local residents flocked to the set, resulting in a crowd.

"Shooting YOWIS BEN is challenging because it always attracts a large audience and creates a crowd. Usually, the production team will move the crowd boundary to minimize the noise. But now, the problem is not merely technical, but the virus threatens us all," Fajar wrote in a tweet on his Twitter account last Monday (16/3/2020).

In addition to Malang, shooting in other cities such as Solo, Kediri, and Surabaya could not be carried out. This is solely to avoid the occurrence of crowds.

2. BACKSTAGE

BACKSTAGE is a music drama that brings together Sissy Prescillia and Vanesha Prescilla in one frame. This debut film by Paragon Pictures began on March 14th. However, due to the increasing concern over the spread of the coronavirus, the shooting process has been forced to stop indefinitely.

"The film BACKSTAGE is very personal to us, made with all our hearts. But with the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is not possible for us to continue shooting. The government has advised social distancing, and our health and safety are more important than any film," wrote the production house in their official Instagram post on Tuesday (17/3).

3. THE DOLL 3

The next film that halted the shooting process is the horror film THE DOLL 3 starring Jessica Mila, Winky Wiryawan, and Masayu Anastasia. This delay has been carried out since last week on Sunday (15/3).

Revealed by Rocky Soraya as the producer and director in the press release, this delay resulted in a loss of one billion because it involved animatronics experts from abroad. However, the decision was still made because for him, the most important thing is the health of the crew, actors, directors, and all parties involved.
