Malang City Launches Corona Brush Chamber to Sterilize Residents

Kapanlagi.com - The Malang City Government (Pemkot) has launched SiCo (Corona Brush Chamber), a tool designed to sterilize residents. This tool functions to kill or anticipate bacteria by utilizing a screening chamber that sprays disinfectant.

"I named this tool Sico (Corona Brush Chamber), it will spray mist or disinfectant vapor onto the human body. The framework of this tool is produced by students from the Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University, and the liquid is prepared by the Health Department," said Sutiaji, the Mayor of Malang in his press release on Thursday (19/3).

According to Sutiaji, the idea for this tool originated from discussions with the Development Acceleration Team led by former Rector of Brawijaya University (UB), Prof. M. Bisri. He wanted to create a tool to kill bacteria in offices and public spaces in order to effectively prevent the spread of Covid-19.

1. Launching Corona Detector Application

The request was met, so the Team asked the Faculty of Engineering at Brawijaya University (UB) to design the tool. As a result, the tool was quickly completed and the effective plan will be used on Friday (20/3).

"All parties work together, move quickly, so this week we will produce 50 units and in the initial stage, 20 units will be installed at crowded points and services in Malang City," he said.

In addition, the Malang City Government will also soon launch the Malang Corona Detector application. The application is designed to collect data on residents at risk of Covid-19 and facilitate tracking. It also serves as an early detection/check-up/self-screening tool for the community to determine if they are affected by Covid-19 and need follow-up actions.

2. Disinfecting the City Hall and Station

The Malang City Corona Task Force sprayed disinfectant in the area of the City Hall and Kota Baru Station. The Mayor, along with the Vice Mayor Sofyan Edi Jarwoko and the Secretary of Malang City, Wasto, also wore Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the disinfection process.

"Today, we are conducting disinfection as part of the health protocols that are expected to be carried out in other areas, in addition to providing education on the use of hand sanitizers and washing hands with soap and running water," he said.

The spraying is carried out continuously and the locations have been mapped out. The spraying locations are public spaces that are considered resistant and where crowds gather.

"Those spaces will continue to be targeted for disinfection," Sutiaji concluded.
