Controversy of MUI's Fatwa on Praying at Home, Ustaz Yusuf Mansur Asks to Stop Blaming Each Other

Kapanlagi.com - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has issued a fatwa regarding the recommendation to perform prayers at home. This is prompted by the increasing concern about the spread of the coronavirus.

Ustaz Yusuf Mansur also commented on the fatwa. He said that everyone surely has their own opinions about the fatwa. He advised that it's okay to have differences as long as people don't blame each other.

"In the name of Allah, maybe some people adhere to the scholars' opinions. Just because someone follows one opinion doesn't mean they blame others. And following one opinion also doesn't mean blaming others. If there are differences, let's refer back to each individual's references and opinions," he said when contacted by phone on Wednesday (18/3).

1. Follow the Fatwa

"If I live in Indonesia and there is also the Indonesian Ulama Council, then we follow the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulama Council. Not because we are lazy or afraid. But this is our effort to protect our nation so that the spread of the corona virus does not become more massive," he added.

Praying at home does not mean that we do not receive the same rewards as praying in the mosque. Ustaz Yusuf Mansur said that Allah SWT is the one who knows the intentions of human beings the most.

2. Break the Corona

By not praying in the mosque, it is hoped that the chain of the Corona virus can be broken. Because, in any case, even healthy people can become carriers of the virus.

"This is a kind of perfecting effort. Because even healthy people can carry the virus. They can become carriers. That's what people should consider. Whether they bring the virus home, when in the mosque, it's not always just the people there. Unless the mosque is only for those people, well this mosque is filled with pedestrians, motorcyclists, car drivers that we don't know where they come from. So it becomes a problem," he concluded.
