'WRONG SANTET', Indonesia-Malaysia Collaboration Presents a Mystical Comedy Drama

Kapanlagi.com - The production house Brightstar Picture Enam Delapan and Ayra Global Enam Delapan from Malaysia collaborates with JSF Studio and SEEV Entertainment from Indonesia to produce a film with a mystical touch titled WRONG SANTET. This film will be directed by Jay Sukmo and is scheduled to be released in 2025.

Featuring a unique story, WRONG SANTET tells the tale of three village youths who discover a book of witchcraft left by a famous shaman. Determined to fight against a village official who wants to seize their land, the three youths attempt to perform witchcraft.

However, mistakes in concocting the ritual lead to unexpected disasters, causing many innocent victims. This film is designed with the cultural elements of Indonesia and Malaysia.

1. Shooting in Sarawak

In addition to filming locations in Indonesia, several scenes will also be shot in Sarawak, Malaysia. “This story aims to depict the uniqueness of the cultures of two related neighboring countries,” said Jay Sukmo.

Currently, the screenplay writing process is still in the research and development stage, with production scheduled to begin in mid-2025. Producers Husnie Ramdan and Pilip Tenonet from SEEV Entertainment revealed that comedy films with mystical elements remain a favorite among audiences in Indonesia.

“Indonesian audiences really enjoy this genre. The humor presented remains relevant, but with a strong and distinctive storyline,” said Husnie when met at the SEEV Entertainment office in Kemang, South Jakarta.

2. Harmonious Collaboration

Malaysian executive producer, Ika Sabreena, along with Yassin Ismail and Firdaus, believes that SALAH SANTET has its own appeal for the people of Indonesia and Malaysia.

“Culturally, Indonesia and Malaysia have many similarities. We are confident that this film will be well received in both countries,” said Ika.

This film also involves several actors from the stand-up comedy community in Indonesia as well as famous artists from Malaysia. “We want to create a harmonious collaboration by combining talents from both countries. With this approach, the film can become a platform that represents the unity and diversity of the cultural archipelago,” added Yassin.

3. Symbol of Cooperation

Besides entertaining, SALAH SANTET is also expected to be a symbol of strategic cooperation between production houses from Indonesia and Malaysia. “This collaboration is not only to make films but also to strengthen our position in the global film arena. We are proud to work together to build the Nusantara film industry,” said producer Yassin Ismail.

According to Jay Sukmo, one of the main strengths of this film is the blend of humor with mystical elements presented in a light manner. “This genre always attracts attention because it offers laughter as well as tension. We want to provide quality entertainment that still conveys a moral message,” he stated.
