Yasmin Napper and Lolox Share the Difficulties During the Filming of ASSALAMUALAIKUM BEIJING 2: LOST IN NINGXIA

KapanLagi welcomed special guests, the cast of the film ASSALAMUALAIKUM BEIJING 2: LOST IN NINGXIA, namely Yasmin Napper and Lolox, some time ago. Both of them opened up about how to delve into their roles in this tear-jerking film. What was the excitement like chatting with these two cast members?

When asked how to immerse oneself in a character for a tear-jerking film, Lolox revealed Yasmin Napper's strengths. "So before she answers, I once acted with a female actor. I don't want to mention her name, but she needed time to take a crying scene, so our scene was like this, okay just a moment, if there’s a crying scene it takes her 1-3 minutes to think first. But this (Yasmin) doesn’t, that's why I thought does this need more time or is this person just magical," said Lolox.

Listening to Lolox's confession, this beautiful artist born in 2003 tried to explain. "Wait a minute. I want to clarify. There are moments that can't be immediate and definitely require a deeper approach to the character. I was shooting a series yesterday, and there was one scene where I don’t know why it was so hard for me to cry," she revealed.

"It was really difficult. I even posted on my Instagram subscribers about how I was trying to evoke emotions. I literally closed my eyes for 10 minutes while shaking, and I still couldn't summon the emotion," she added.

Lolox also asked how during the shooting of the film ASSALAMUALAIKUM BEIJING 2: LOST IN NINGXIA, she was able to cry immediately.

<nil>

"No, but sometimes that feeling arises because I have gotten really close to the script, it comes up quickly. Every actor definitely has their own way, but for me personally, I have to get close to the script again so I don't cry for personal reasons," said Yasmin.

"But I cried because of the character and what she's going through, because every cry is different, there are sad cries, happy cries, stressed out cries, cries of confusion about what to do, cries of loss. So every cry, in my opinion, is very different, and what makes it look real is the approach to the character," Yasmin explained in detail.

In addition, Yasmin and Lolox also talked about a scene in the film ASSALAMUALAIKUM BEIJING 2: LOST IN NINGXIA that seemed easy during the reading but was difficult during filming.

"There are several scenes that during the reading were very relaxed and easy to perform, and we both already got it with our co-star, okay, this is the emotion, this is how it should be full. Hmm, but when we're shooting abroad, we have rental hours for the location and that can't be skipped because after that maybe they can't rent it out anymore, it's already outside working hours and so on," said the beautiful artist who decided to move to Jakarta from Bali during middle school.

Yasmin also revealed what makes her feel pressured when shooting is done abroad. "So during the shooting it feels like everything is rushed, that’s what creates pressure. Then it changes a lot from what we had already fixed, that's what makes me really anxious, especially since there are several scenes that really require a deep emotional level and need to be done quickly and differently from now," she explained.

Unlike Yasmin, Lolox revealed a different situation during the reading and while shooting. "I had a reading scene that I didn't expect, where Victor shouldn't have acted like that but ended up doing so. So there was a scene in the reading where I felt like I was just quiet, it was safe, I was even playing around with Evi, still safe. But because I entered that scene and it turned out that I was like... I was here, no longer Lolox," he said.

"Without you realizing it, Victor is crying there, there’s a scene at home, and during the reading, I think I already asked here if I could (cry)?. Because I felt that it was truly no longer Lolox, Victor had entered into it, I got goosebumps, oh my. That’s what was different from what we practiced in the reading, and it turned out that when the action was called, it was immediate," explained the person whose full name is Nugroho Achmad.
