Lineup of Best Animated Feature Oscar Predictions

Kapanlagi.com - The best animated feature category has been introduced since 2001. The first animated film to win the best animation award was SHREK. There are several animators who have won this award twice, such as Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Jonas Riveram Andrew Shanton, and Lee Unkrich. Oscar predictions are regularly updated with several competitors in all categories. To include films in the Oscar award predictions, it consists of four phases: Draft, Pre-Season, Regular Season, and Post-Season.

During the pandemic, it has not been a hindrance for production houses and streaming services to release several animated films. Like Pixar, Apple TV Plus, HBO, and Netflix, there are several films that are competing for the best category like SOUL, OVER THE MOON, WOLFWALKERS. For 2021, there are already several predictions for the names of films that will be included in the Best Animated Feature category. Here are the animated films that are included in the Oscar predictions:

1. WOLFWALKERS

Tomm Moore, Ross Stewart collaborate to create an animation titled WOLFWALKERS. This film is a fairy tale set in the 17th century. It tells the story of a young hunter and his father who go to Ireland to help eradicate the last pack of wolves. However, everything changes when the young man meets a girl from a foreign tribe who is rumored to become a wolf at night. This film has a touching story about family and friendship. WOLFWALKERS is produced by Tomm Moore, Stéphan Roelants, Nora Twomey, Paul Young and will be available on Apple TV starting from December 11. Starring Honor Kneafsey, Eva Whittaker, Sean Bean, Simon McBurney, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Tommy Tiernan.

2. SOUL

This film, directed by Pete Docter and Kemp Powers, tells the story of Joe Gardner, a school music teacher who dreams of becoming a jazz musician. He tried several times to try his luck to get a chance to perform in a jazz band. But unfortunately, his fate was tragic when he had an accident that left him in a coma. When he woke up, he found himself in the form of a soul, and there he embarked on a long journey to regain his true self. Will he succeed? The film, produced by Dana Murray, can be watched on Disney+ Hotstar starting December 25. Featuring amazing voice actors Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Questlove, Graham Norton, Angela Bassett, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, Wes Studi.

3. OVER THE MOON

This film is a story of an adaptation of Chinese mythology related to the moon goddess. It tells the adventure of a young girl named Fei who believes in a myth about the moon goddess named Chang'e. To prove the existence of the moon goddess, Fei embarked on a journey to the moon to meet Chang'e. Will Fei meet Chang'e? The film directed by Glen Keane and John Kahrs can be enjoyed on the streaming service Netflix. With voice actors Cathy Ang, Phillipa Soo, Ruthie Ann Miles, John Cho, Sandra Oh, Margaret Cho, Ken Jeong.

4. ONWARD

ONWARD tells the story of a magical world. The film, directed by Dan Scanlon, depicts a time when there were many wonders and many people had magical abilities. However, with the passage of time, many things have changed, making each family's activities different. But a gift has come and can change every existing story. Featuring Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer, Mel Rodriguez, Lena Waithe, Ali Wong as voice actors. This film is produced by Kori Rae.

5. EARWIG AND THE WITCH

Gorô Miyazaki created a film titled EARWIG AND THE WITCH which tells the story of a child named Earwig who has a peaceful life as an orphan. However, her tranquility is disrupted when she is adopted by Bella Yaga, who turns out to be a witch. Many things happen in their new family life. Will Earwig be able to survive with her new family? The voice actors include J.B. Blanc, Alex Cartañá, Thomas Bromhead, Pandora Colin, Richard E.Grant will join the cast of EARWIG AND THE WITCH. The film, produced by Toshio Suzuki, is scheduled to premiere in American theaters in early 2021.

6. DEMONSLAYER

This animated film, directed by Haruo Sotozaki, tells the story of a mysterious organization tasked with protecting humans from demons who eat humans. The anime is an adaptation of the Japanese manga by Koyoharu Gotoge, which has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2016. The film features voice actors Bryce Papenbrook, Zach Aguilar, Abby Trott, Natsuki Hanae, and Aleks Le.

7. TROLLS: WORLD TOUR

Walt Dohrn and David P.Smith worked on a film titled TROLLS: WORLD TOUR which tells the story of a special adventure that will take them far beyond what they previously knew. It turns out there are different tribes of Trolls spread across six different lands with different genres of music. They have a mission to unite the Troll nation to fight against the antics of the hard-rock faction. Who wants to destroy all kinds of music and make rock music reign. Featuring Hollywood celebrities Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Rachel Bloom, James Corden, Kelly Clarkson, Anderson .Paak, Sam Rockwell, George Clinton, Mary J.Blige, Kenan Thompson will enliven the film.

8. THE CROODS: A NEW AGE

The result of Joel Crawford's film tells the story of the Croods who find themselves in need of a new home after surviving a disaster and wild animals.They have found the right place when they see a walled paradise, complete with towering tree houses and colorful, fresh irrigated land.However, they realize that the place cannot be owned because it is already owned by the Bettermans family. The meeting of these two families becomes very interesting because the Croods family sees a new world and the Bettermans family is fascinated by a less developed family and welcomes them as their household guests. However, everything does not go smoothly due to tension between the two families that begins to occur. By collaborating with well-known artists such as Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman, Clark Duke, Leslie Mann, Peter Dinklage, Kelly Marie Tran will voice in this film. 

9. LUPIN III: THE FIRST

This animated film can be said to be a story about thieves, detectives, and treasure hunting. Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the film tells the story of World War II that leaves behind a treasure. The treasure is the most powerful weapon, and knowing this, many people are after it. The film, produced by Takeshi Ito, Naoaki Kitajima, and Koji Nozaki, invites several voice actors to voice in this film, such as J. David Brimmer, Richard Epcar, Doug Erholtz, and Tatsuya Fujiwara.

10. ON-GAKU: OUR SOUND

Kenji Iwaisawa worked on an animation that tells the story of a group of young people who decide to form a music trio. Although they are not equipped with musical skills, it does not deter their enthusiasm to form a band. Produced by Tetsuaki Matsue, this animated film is voiced by hintaro Sakamoto, Ren Komai, Tomoya Maeno, Tateto Serizawa, Kami Hiraiwa, and Naoto Takenaka.
