INSIDIOUS: OUT OF THE FURTHER officially premiered in theaters starting August 21, 2026, becoming the sixth entry in the Insidious franchise. Since its first release in 2011 under the skilled direction of James Wan, the Insidious franchise has gained widespread recognition thanks to the iconic figure of the "Lipstick-Faced Demon" that often goes viral among horror fans.
Sixteen years later, this franchise continues to expand its storytelling universe through various sequels and now a prequel, while still featuring Lin Shaye in her well-established role as medium Elise Rainier.
This film centers around Gemma (Amelia Eve), who raises her daughter, Maya (Island Austin), in the house where she herself grew up. At one point, Gemma realizes she has the ability to explore The Further, the realm where lost souls reside, which is the core of the entire Insidious universe.
Gemma's ability then develops into something much more dangerous. She can not only enter The Further but also bring entities from there back into the real world.
Despite this, the big question accompanying this sixth film is: can this franchise, which has been running for more than a decade, still bring freshness, or is it starting to run out of ideas? Here is the complete review of INSIDIOUS: OUT OF THE FURTHER from the KapanLagi.com editorial team.
