Who doesn't know the franchise DESPICABLE ME and its famous Minions. This film, produced by Illumination Studio, will release its latest film MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU, also known as MINIONS 2.

When it was first announced in 2019, this film was supposed to be released on July 3, 2020. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and various other reasons, that date had to be pushed back 2 years to July 1, 2022, hopefully without any further delays.
Steve Carell and Pierre Coffin will be back in MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU. Joining them are some big actors like Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, and many more actors who will voice the characters.
MINION 2 will take place in the 1970s when 12-year-old Gru is planning to become the world's greatest supervillain. Obsessed with the villainous group known as the Vicious 6, Gru devises a plan to make his name famous and earn respect.
Kyle Balda, who directed MINIONS and DESPICABLE ME 3 with Pierre Coffin, will return to direct MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU, with Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val as co-directors. In addition, the script for Minions 2 will be written by Brian Lynch, who has had success with several Illumination films like HOP, THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS, and PUSS IN BOOTS.
Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams will once again fill the soundtrack of MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU, but this fifth film will feature additional Grammy Award-winning producer, Jack Antonoff, whose music can be heard in the film's trailer.
Although the release date of MINIONS 2: THE RISE OF GRU has been postponed due to the pandemic, the staff are still working on the film from home. According to Deadline in 2020, Illumination studio has been working remotely on all aspects of development, production, and marketing, just as if everyone went to the office.
