Classic cartoons always greet their viewers through various concepts. But usually cartoon makers use animal personification in them. Most of them do show the chemistry between two characters who have different traits.

Classic 90s cartoons bring back a lot of memories for children of that era. Even though we have grown up, some of us still love those classic cartoons. Their light stories with cheeky jokes from the characters have successfully become our childhood friends. Equipped with unique and funny animations, classic cartoons have become one of the most iconic shows among children in the 90s.

1. Tom and Jerry

This cartoon featuring the conflict between a cat named Tom and a mouse named Jerry has always been an all-time favorite of children in its time and even until now. Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1940, this comedy short film is more famous for its theatrical short film called METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER. The storyline usually focuses on the little quarrel that leads to severe damage caused by Tom and Jerry. Although Tom is said to have many strategies to defeat Jerry's cleverness, he will still lose against Jerry. Not only showing conflict, they also often show true friendship on several occasions.

This cartoon, although it looks funny and refreshing, has many jokes indicating violence in it. Tom usually uses sharp objects like hammers, guns, and others which are actually not good for young children. However, this is not too important because once again TOM AND JERRY is just a cartoon. This classic cartoon rarely shows the sound of people talking like humans usually do. Therefore, the role of music is very fundamental here. The background music in this cartoon clarifies the situation that is happening.

2. Popeye

POPEYE is a cartoon that tells the story of a spinach-loving sailor to increase his muscle volume. Created by Elzie Crisler Segar, POPEYE first appeared in the King Features' Thimble Theatre daily comic strip. Despite appearing brainless and relying solely on his muscles, Popeye is portrayed as a character who can solve problems through his scientific solutions. He often demonstrates investigative abilities like Sherlock Holmes and diplomatic approaches to opponents. 

Popeye's pipe is one of his iconic items. He is often seen smoking tobacco wherever he goes. Not only that, one of the most iconic storylines in POPEYE is the love triangle with Olive and Bluto. This creates many interesting scenes of competition for Olive's affection. 

3. Scooby Doo

Although there have been many live action adaptations of SCOOBY DOO, its classic cartoon version remains a favorite among fans. As an American animated franchise, SCOOBY DOO has been produced from 1969 until now. Consisting of Shaggy, Fred, Scooby-Doo, Velma, and Daphne, this classic cartoon tells the adventures of the five friends and their dog in solving mysteries. One of the most iconic things about this cartoon is their investigation van, which resembles the green Ghostbuster's car.

Throughout its five-decade presence in broadcasting history, this cartoon has received various attention in award shows. One of them is the 1989 Daytime Emmy for A PUP NAMED SCOOBY-DOO and a Daytime Emmy nomination for WHAT'S NEW, SCOOBY DOO in the category of "Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program".
