The body of a wealthy Osage woman was found in the woods, followed by sixty similar cases. The FBI, led by Special Agent Tom White (Jesse Plemons), intervened to investigate the serial killings.

During his investigation, he discovered local rancher William Hale's plan to control the Osage oil, even convincing his nephew Ernest Burkhart to work and take control of the Osage oil. This incident, also known as the Reign of Terror, triggered a massive FBI investigation. The Indian tribe living in the Osage area originally moved there due to feeling alienated by white people. 

3. Marriage with Hidden Objectives

It turns out that the land they occupy is rich in oil wealth, attracting the attention of white people. The character named Ernest Burkhardt (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) receives a mission from William Hale (played by Robert De Niro) to marry an Indian tribe member in order to obtain abundant wealth from the Osage community.

To carry out his plan, Ernest also has to seduce Molly (Lily Gladstone), the daughter of an oil wealth heir. However, their marriage takes place during an FBI investigation led by Tom White (Jesse Plemons).
