On Thursday (19/12/2024), thousands of people from various backgrounds held a protest in front of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta. The protesters consisted of civilians, students, and K-pop fans or K-popers from various fandoms. They united to voice their rejection of the plan to increase the Value Added Tax (VAT) to 12 percent, announced by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, which will take effect starting January 2025.
