8 Portraits of Phewe Releasing 'PHP', a Single Highlighting the Bitter False Hopes in Love - There Were Unique Challenges During Its Creation

The song PHP depicts the feelings of someone who hopes too much in love, only to eventually realize that everything is just a lie. The lyrics reflect the pain felt when someone we love turns out not to be serious at all.

From a musical perspective, Phewe emphasizes that the arrangement of this song is very different compared to the songs he performed with Tahta. Although he was involved in creating the songs of that band, PHP shows a different side of his musicality as a soloist. "Indonesian music lovers will feel something different but still easy listening. And of course, this song reflects many real-life situations," he said.

For his fans, known as Phewe Rangers, this song serves as an answer to their questions about Phewe's latest work. Previously, he released a song titled 'Tanpa Syarat', and now, after a year, he returns with PHP.

The creative process of this song began in September 2024 and is part of a series of five songs that he is preparing. Phewe admitted that there were unique challenges in working on this song because he did everything himself, from the lyrics to the arrangement. “I made it from the lyrics, arrangements, and so on. Of course, it has its own challenges, but I still feel satisfied and more all out. The challenge was more about the self-confidence that I might have felt at times,” he revealed.

Despite facing various challenges, Phewe feels freer to create as a solo artist. He can pour all his ideas and desires into this song without hesitation. “The making of this single, in my opinion, makes me freer in the process. Whatever is in my mind and the desire to make this song interesting I can do without hesitation. Because if there are decisions that need to be made and if there are risks, I will bear them myself, there’s no burden,” he said.

Before going solo, Phewe was known as the vocalist of the band Tahta, a music group from Bandung that was formed on April 18, 2004. Their name began to be recognized after the song "Dasar Pengecut" was included in the soundtrack of the film "D'Girlz Begins" (2006). This song also became part of their debut album, "Tempat Yang Paling Indah", which was released in the same year.

After that, Tahta released the album "Nyanyian Hati" (2008) and "Dunia Laki-Laki" (2010). Since then, they have held a special place in the hearts of Indonesian pop music fans. Now, Phewe is stepping forward with his solo work and continues to show his existence in the music industry at home.

Phewe revealed that the song PHP will be part of a mini album (EP) which is also planned to be released in physical format (CD). This is good news for his fans who still enjoy music releases in physical form. The song has also been made into a music video directed by Seno Vegas. The video is already available on the PHEWE_OFFICIAL YouTube channel and even has a karaoke version available.
