After Four Years of Hiatus, the Ska Unit from Bogor Tomskate Returns with the EP 'Kebisingan'

Kapanlagi.com - The ska band from Bogor, Tomskate, has finally returned to enliven the music scene in the country with their latest work after four years without a release. They introduced an EP titled Kebisingan as a new step in their musical journey.

The long hiatus occurred due to several internal dynamics experienced by the band. This situation includes personnel changes and the busy schedules of each member outside of music.

"Communication within the group is still smooth and productivity continues to flow organically amidst the increasingly tight meeting schedules due to each member's quite packed work. But that doesn’t stop us from continuing to create and make something big either independently or gathering for workshops," said Alfaruq Jogja, the bassist of Tomskate.

1. Back to the Studio

Although it was momentarily halted, the spirit of the members to keep creating has never faded. The creative process continued through a WhatsApp group until they finally returned to the studio.

This series of processes gave birth to the EP Kebisingan, which was first released in cassette format on February 8, 2025. The digital release followed a week later, on February 15, 2025, across various music streaming platforms.

There are six songs presented in this EP, with themes that are close to everyday life. Ranging from love, work, to teenage mischief, these themes serve as the common thread throughout the songs.

"The EP Kebisingan tells about the dilemmas in the lives we lead every day, whether it’s about work, romance, or the teenage mischief that is currently on the rise," Alfaruq continued.

2. Worked On For 1 Month

The process of working on this EP was relatively short, taking only about a month to complete six songs. This process started from the creation of the guide until it finally reached the recording stage.

“We worked on everything which took about a month for six songs. After finishing the guide recording, we decided to record at Fake Hero Records on Sandi's recommendation. The recording process went very well and was enjoyable, filled with jokes,” said Alfaruq.

In the production process, Tomskate was also assisted by Adrian Rexo as the producer and Masbime from Fake Hero Records. This collaboration added color to their latest EP.

After its release, Tomskate did not stop there. They have prepared several plans to celebrate their return to the music industry. The band is currently preparing a weekend tour as a celebration of the release of the EP Kebisingan. Additionally, they will also hold workshops for upcoming materials.
