AMI Awards 2023 Ready to be Held, Bringing 4858 Songs and Six New Categories

Kapanlagi.com - The AMI Awards 2023 event, which has now entered its 26th year, will be held again. The registration itself apparently opened online on May 15, 2023, and closed on July 8, 2023.

There are a total of 4858 songs registered this year, in the form of single or album productions released commercially in the release period of July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.

"A higher increase indicates the extraordinary creativity of musicians, the overall musicians continue to work," said Chandra Darusman, who is the Chairman of the AMI Award 2023, at Plaza Senayan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (21/9/2023).

This year's AMI has a total of 62 categories, all of which went through the AMI categorization session held on July 18-August 3, 2023, conducted offline and online.

Out of the 62 categories, there are additions and improvements in 6 new categories, namely Best Solo Male/Female/Group/Koplo Collaboration Artist, Best Solo Male/Female/Group/Malay Collaboration Artist, Best Orchestral Work, Best Film Scoring Album, Best Musical Album, Best Alternative Album.

"Every year there are new talents, new extraordinary musicians that make us excited. We are grateful that Indonesia has extraordinary talents," said Chandra.

According to the Director of Film, Music, and Media, Ministry of Education and Culture, Ahmad Mahendra, the journey of musicians in the national music industry is full of diverse values such as norms, rituals, social, cultural, legal, and technological.

Mahendra said that these values always influence the national music industry to develop and adapt to the times.

"The national music works and industry are increasingly of high quality to be enjoyed by the public. All of this is thanks to the spirit and aspirations of Indonesian musicians who never stop producing quality ideas," explained Mahendra.

Therefore, the creativity of national musicians needs to be continuously supported as a form of cultural advancement. In addition, he also emphasized the importance of disseminating music works created by the nation's children.

"AMI Awards as an annual festival event is the right moment to appreciate the artistic expression of Indonesian musicians. They never stop creating despite facing various obstacles," Mahendra concluded.

The AMI Awards 2023 award ceremony itself is planned to be held on November 8, 2023, at Jiexpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
