Kapanlagi.com - An animated music video created by students of Raden Umar Said Vocational High School (RUS) in Kudus titled Nature's Word was screened at the Balinale International Film Festival held from November 11th to 14th, 2021 at Park 23 Cinema XXI in South Kuta, Badung, Bali.On the special screening session on the last day of Balinale, the students of Raden Umar Said Vocational High School, which is one of the schools supported by Djarum Foundation, also had discussions with visitors including filmmakers, producers, actors, and film enthusiasts.
Nature's Word not only caught the attention of domestic Balinale visitors, but also international film enthusiasts.Like Renee Thorpe, a journalist, and Pascal Philippe, a film enthusiast from France.Both agreed that the work of RUS Kudus students is of high quality and can compete with professional animators' works.
"This work is very interesting in terms of animation and the theme of the story.The implied message conveyed is represented by various elements, ranging from music, lyrics, and images that form a cohesive whole," praised Renee after watching Nature's Word.On the same occasion, she also expressed that the works of RUS Kudus students are extraordinary and can stimulate the creative economy in Indonesia.According to her, it would be better if there is an exchange program between RUS Kudus and students from schools in France to enhance their insight and skills. This is an exciting beginning for them to work in the animation industry.

Meanwhile, senior artist Garin Nugroho was also amazed by the quality of the animation music video Sabda Alam. He expressed his admiration and appreciation for the students who are still in SMK for being able to produce works like world-class industry productions. "I have seen several works by SMK RUS. The animation Sabda Alam is extraordinary for students of SMK to create such a good animation," he said.
Eko Prastiyo, the compositor of Sabda Alam, expressed his pride because his work and his friends' work received positive responses from various circles. He admitted that the project has become a valuable portfolio and has facilitated his career advancement in the animation industry. After graduating from SMK RUS Kudus, Eko now works as a compositor at Brown Bag Films Bali.
"My involvement as a compositor in Sabda Alam has a significant impact on my portfolio in the job market. Thanks to this work, it has made it easier for me to apply for jobs and has become a plus point in the eyes of HRD. In addition, various experiences when I was still a student at SMK RUS have also become my assets, ranging from mentality, problem-solving, and team leadership," said Eko.

Natural Word was born from the concern of SMK RUS students for endemic birds in Indonesia such as the Bali Starling and the Javan Hawk-eagle, whose existence is increasingly threatened with extinction. Similarly, the Yellow-crested Cockatoo and the Helmeted Hornbill, these birds are classified as critically endangered based on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
This animated music video is accompanied by the song Natural Word composed by the late Chrisye and Junaedi Salat, rearranged by Tohpati. More interestingly, SMK Raden Umar Said also collaborated with a series of golden-voiced singers who are the pride of the nation, to complement the visual beauty presented. They are Eva Celia, Fadly Padi, Mario Ginanjar, Mytha Lestari, and Leisha Kaligis who provide the voices of the birds in the video.
Since its upload on September 12, 2021, on the RUS Animation Studio's YouTube channel, this 4-minute 32-second video has been viewed by more than three million viewers. Not only because of its internationally caliber animation quality, Natural Word also has a story and meaning conveyed to invite the public to participate in preserving the natural ecosystem.
