Barasuara Releases 'Sementara', a Song about Acceptance When Life Doesn't Go as Planned

Kapanlagi.com - Barasuara presents their latest work titled “Sementara,” officially released on July 10, 2026. This song marks their first release after the third album Jalaran Sadrah, which launched in mid-2024.

Written by Iga Massardi, “Sementara” explores the theme of accepting reality when life plans do not go as expected. The song carries the message that failure is not the end, but rather a part of the process towards other possibilities.

"'Sementara' essentially conveys that we always have plans, desires, aspirations, or whatever it may be. But sometimes, it doesn't go as we hope. We experience failure or whatever it is along the way," said Iga Massardi when met in Jakarta on Friday (10/07/2026).

"But actually, failure, without us realizing it at the time it happens, opens up other paths that we also do not yet know about. The essence is about letting go of what happens at that moment and hoping while striving to find a better ending or path than what we planned," he added.

1. About the Acceptance Process

Asteriska also explains that this song depicts the phase of acceptance experienced by someone after facing a reality that does not meet expectations.

"Acceptance is the final stage in a person's emotional process after shattered hopes or loss. In the end, humans are able to let go, although it takes time. This song invites listeners to believe that from sorrow and the collapse of expectations, new hope or strength can emerge. It is not the elimination of feelings, but rather a new way to move forward," said Asteriska.

2. Developed from an Old Idea

Although it was just released this year, Iga revealed that the seeds of the song “Sementara” have existed since 2022. The serious development process only began in early 2026 when Barasuara started preparing new material.

"The first time I heard it, I immediately felt this song was really catchy. In terms of lyrics, tone, and melody, it’s more mature and sophisticated. The music is simple but profound," said Puti Chitara.

3. Faster Production Process

Gerald Situmorang mentioned that the work on this song took place more quickly compared to Barasuara's previous works. The recording process was completed in a matter of months before entering the final stage.

"In the past, Barasuara could take months to work on a single song," revealed Gerald Situmorang.

4. Focus on the Creative Process

Entering their 14th year of creating, Barasuara admits they now enjoy the process of making music more than chasing popularity. They believe that every work will find its own audience.

"We always go back to the original reason Barasuara was created. If a song goes viral, we consider it a bonus from hard work. But if that doesn't happen, we just hope the song will find its own place, whenever that may be. If it hasn't succeeded yet, we don't see it as a failure. It's just a process," concluded Iga Massardi.
